Reflecting on his achievement, Mr Edwards said:
"While I am humbled to have won this award and very proud of the part I have played in the transformation of our borough and the financial management of the council throughout the last decade, this is also an award for all those colleagues and partners that I have worked with during that time. By pulling together with a ‘can do’ attitude, we face challenges head on, make the most of opportunities available to us and focus on making our ambitious plans a reality for the benefit of the whole borough."
Cllr Derek Bastiman, Leader of Scarborough Borough Council said:
"I am delighted that Mr Edwards has been recognised in this way, which is without doubt a very significant and well deserved personal achievement. It also reflects positively on the hard work other officers and councillors put in to deliver major developments and community based initiatives, while at the same time ensuring responsible financial management facilitates the protection of vital public services."
