Service provision during coronavirus

Thursday, 19 March 2020

We are working hard to deliver services and support communities throughout the borough during the coronavirus outbreak and are asking people to help us continue doing so by using online services as much as possible.

We are adapting how we operate to take account for social distancing and the impact of school closures so that we can prioritise essential services and support those most in need.

From tomorrow (Friday 20 March) Customer First in Scarborough will be open only for the most vulnerable residents and those who have no other way of contacting the council. The centre's revised opening hours are 10.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. Filey Library and Whitby Job Centre will be closed until further notice.

People are encouraged to access our services from our self service page. Those without internet access should call Customer First on 01723 232323.

Cllr Liz Colling, Deputy Leader, said:

"We want to provide as close to normal services as possible during these challenging times and everyone can help us to do this by making simple changes in how they interact with us. Please go online or call us and only visit Customer First if absolutely necessary. This will allow us to provide our services in the most effective way, ensuring our face to face contact is prioritised for those that are in the most need of our help."
