Graphic to illustrate our new Bereavement Guide

We have recently published a new guide to the Bereavement Services we offer from Woodlands Cemetery and Crematorium in Scarborough and Larpool Lane Cemetery in Whitby.

The full colour, 32-page Bereavement Guide includes details about the facilities available at each of the venues, as well as information on funeral service options, burials, cremations and memorials. It also provides useful information about local suppliers, such as florists, funeral directors and legal experts, as well as venues and caterers for post-funeral receptions.

The step by step booklet is designed to inform those looking to make their own funeral arrangements in advance so that they can give their relatives peace of mind and also to guide bereaved families through the various options available to them after the loss of a loved one. The booklet complements information that people receive from an appointed funeral director, but is equally useful for those making arrangements independently.

The Bereavement Services guide is available online to view and download at or a printed copy can be requested from the Bereavement Services office by calling 01723 372652 or 354393, emailing or visiting the office in person during normal office hours at Woodlands Cemetery and Crematorium, Woodlands Drive, Scarborough, YO11 6QN.

Michael Broadley, Bereavement Services Manager said:

"The process of making funeral arrangements for you or for a loved one that has just died can be a daunting process and it is often compounded by the fact that many people find the subject of planning for the event of their death something they’d rather not talk about.

"Alongside the new guide, our Bereavement Services team can help make the process more approachable by offering advice, care and practical information to allow you to make informed decisions."
