Independent rep required for Audit Committee
Scarborough Borough Council is looking to recruit a new independent representative to join its Audit Committee.
The role involves providing challenge, support and advice to one of the authority’s most important committees covering the areas of finance, audit and fraud. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate high standards of corporate governance at all times, including understanding the role played by the Audit Committee in helping to address the key financial and other risks facing the council.
The duties include attendance at the Audit Committee meetings to consider reports from internal and external auditors and other council officers. The meetings are held four times a year usually on a Thursday afternoon starting at 2pm. Additional meetings may sometimes be required.
The appointment is for three years and will be subject to approval by the council’s Appointments Committee. Anyone interested in the role can find out more information and apply online at scarborough.gov.uk/jobs by the closing date of Friday 26 January.
The initial shortlisting will take place shortly after the closing date and applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application thereafter. Interviews will then follow based on a question and answer assessment. The interviews will be conducted by a panel of three members from the Appointments Committee. The Audit and Fraud Manager and the Corporate Finance Manager will also attend the interviews.
