Cliff lifts

There are two cliff lifts in the borough. They're not run by the council so please check their websites for the lates prices and opening times.

Scarborough

Central Tramway Company

Runs from St Nicholas Cliff to the Foreshore Road in the south bay.

Established in 1881, the Central Tramway is the oldest surviving tramway company in the country. 

Seasonal opening hours apply, check the tramway website for current information.

The cost to travel is £1.30 each way, children aged 5 and under travel free.

Spa Cliff Lift

Runs from the Esplanade down to the Spa complex.
