Whitby Conservation Area

On 1 April the single new council for North Yorkshire launched replacing Scarborough Borough Council and other local authorites in North Yorkshire.

To find your Councillor or to view minutes, meetings and agendas please visit the North Yorkshire Council website.

This appraisal of Whitby seeks to record and analyse the various features of the conservation area and immediately adjacent areas. The area’s buildings and spaces are noted and described, and marked on the appraisal maps along with significant trees, boundaries and other features.

It should be noted that whilst the below Whitby Conservation Area – Character Appraisal & Management Plan is marked as ‘Draft’ it was adopted on Tuesday 11th February 2014 subject to inclusions of changes as outlined in Annex 2  and 3 of the document. For the avoidance of doubt, the Whitby Hospital site remains within the designated Conservation Area and Map 9 of the document does not provide an up to date representation of the Conservation Area boundary.
