We’re really excited to be offering a number of six-month job placements within our communications, housing, sport, regeneration, parks services and harbours teams.

If you are aged 16-24 yrs, unemployed and receiving Universal Credit, you could work with us for six months and gain skills and experience that will help you get your next job.

Communications and Marketing Assistant

You could be working on campaign activity, generating and posting original content to our various channels, providing a response to the media or setting up one of our events.

You don’t need to have any prior experience, but you will need to have an interest in communications, PR, marketing or digital and social media.  If you know something about video production, that would be a distinct advantage.

We’re a small outfit but if you’re passionate, enthusiastic, a great team-player and have plenty of ideas, you’ll fit right in.

MORE for Eastfield is a partnership of local organisations who have come together to support residents who need help to get into work or training.

This is a great opportunity for the right person to provide administrative support to the MORE for Eastfield Project and all aspects of support for the Project Team.

Harbour Joiner’s Assistant (one in Scarborough and one in Whitby)

Our harbours team are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Scarborough and Whitby harbours and Filey Coble Landing.

The team are keen to provide a great opportunity for two Kickstart placements to work alongside the harbours joiner – one in Scarborough and another in Whitby.  The team is looking for people who are willing to get stuck-in, who are friendly and approachable and willing to learn and develop new skills.  You will need to be able to take instruction, ask questions when you are unsure, and follow procedures.  The work includes being outside in varying weather conditions and you must be willing to undertake tasks where you will get dirty.  We want someone with a ‘see it, sort it’ attitude!

You don’t need to have any prior experience, but if you are good with your hands and not afraid of talking to people, that will be a great start.

Housing Options Team Assistant

Our Housing Options team work with households in the area who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. We try to find solutions for the households so that they are no longer homeless or threatened with homelessness. We can provide the households with support whilst we are trying to assist them.

Parks Service Grounds Worker (4 positions)

Our parks service undertakes grounds maintenance in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey and are responsible for maintaining a very high standard for the benefit of residents and visitors.

The parks service are keen to provide a great opportunity for four Kickstart placements to work alongside the team.  We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and willing to get stuck-in, who are willing to learn and develop new skills.  Based at the our Dean Road Depot, the work involves being outside in varying weather conditions and you must be willing to undertake tasks where you will get dirty. 

If an office job doesn’t appeal to you, and you prefer to be outside in the fresh air, this might be just what you are looking for!

Parks Service Grounds Worker - job description

Important information

These roles are for 6 month, UK Government funded Kickstart placements, and will be for 25 hours per week on national minimum wage. Kickstart placements are only for young people currently claiming Universal Credit. Other eligibility conditions apply.

To be eligible for the Kickstart programme you will need to be:

  • Aged 16-24 yrs when starting your Kickstart placement
  • Unemployed and receiving Universal Credit
  • Referred by your Jobcentre Work Coach
  • Be available to work for 25 hours per week
  • Be able to undertake a 6-month training programme

All applications must be submitted via the Job Centre.  We are not able to accept any applications made direct to us.
