About the vacancy
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic applicant for a new post of Policy and Research Assistant. The ideal candidate will be a quick-thinker, a willing team member and be able to adapt to changing priorities on a daily basis. They should be able to work with the utmost discretion and with a good awareness of political sensitivities.
The role will include providing administrative, research and analysis support to the Chief Executive and the wider Executive Management Team, to further the development and implementation of organisational policy, corporate priorities and evidence based decision making. As the role includes researching and advising on issues of importance to the Council, you must be a confident communicator, with excellent analytical skills, able to liaise with Members, Directors, Officers, and external stakeholders.
Your role will include dealing with complex, unexpected, and politically sensitive enquiries, anticipating the needs of the Executive Management Team and exercising judgement based on a sound understanding of the political setting.
The Postholder will also work closely with the Personal Assistant to the Leader and Chief Executive. The Council operates a flexible working scheme including opportunities for home or agile working.
