Communication and Marketing Roles

You’ve probably heard of Scarborough.  We’re the original English holiday resort.

We see ourselves as the borough by the sea where the North York Moors meet the coast.  We have wide open spaces on our doorstep which will take your breath away.

While we cherish our history and heritage in the bustling towns of Filey, Whitby and Scarborough, as well as many charming villages, we’re a borough which is looking forward too.

We have some big plans and bold ideas to shape our next exciting chapter.  With significant investment and regeneration projects happening, we have a brilliant story to tell.

That’s where you come in.

We’re recruiting three communications and marketing professionals to our new team.

If you understand the role communications and marketing plays in helping a local council realise its ambitions, and how it can best engage its residents and businesses, we need you!

Campaigns and marketing manager

£38,606 to £42,202

You’ll lead our campaigns and marketing activity, whether it is encouraging residents to recycle more or promoting a £ multi-million regeneration project.  And, given how important tourism is to the local economy, you’ll use your marketing experience to find innovative ways of encouraging more visitors to the Yorkshire coast.  You’ll also manage our relationship with creative agencies and take charge of our new place brand for Scarborough.

Communications officer (digital)

£35,546 to £38,606

We’ve got big ambitions when it comes to our use of digital communication tools and channels.  We know social media will be vital as we move to our next chapter as we promote major investment schemes and the services we provide.  We want to generate more of our own content including the clever use of video, audio and imagery.  It goes without saying that you’ll need to know your Twitter from your TikTok and you’ll need to demonstrate how you’ve used digital tools to engage and inform audiences.

Campaigns and marketing officer

£22,183 to £24,491

Our campaigns and marketing officer has been promoted to a new role and they’ve left some big shoes to fill.  You’ll be supporting the delivery of our annual communications and marketing work plan, taking charge of your own campaigns.  You could be encouraging more people to visit the Yorkshire coast or helping to explain the work of the council.  You’ll need to have a good grasp of the use of social and digital communications channels.  Experience of using content management systems will be a distinct advantage.

If you’d like to have an informal chat about these roles, please call Andy Carter, Head of Communications and Marketing on 07973 174319.

We look forward to receiving your application – we do not accept CVs.
