When the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough is elected by the Council they are given a 12 month tenure. In addition to fulfilling hundreds of engagements within the community, chairing council meeting etc. they are entrusted with managing and governing The Mayor's Community Fund. This is traditionally organised by the Mayoress or Mayor's Consort who builds a Committee consisting of members of the public, business representatives and other interested parties.
The Committee members raise funds throughout the Mayoral year through organising fund raising and receiving donations from individuals and businesses. The Mayor’s Annual Ball, organised with the assistance of Scarborough Rotary Club is the largest fund raising event during the year.
The Mayor’s Community fund has helped hundreds of local people over a number of years and is proud to have assisted in the support and development of our Borough.
