MOT bookings terms and conditions

We reserve the right to modify any Terms and Conditions of the MOT service.  Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to affect, nor will affect, a customer's statutory rights.


The booking can be changed and cancelled up until 12:00 noon on the working day before the test is due to occur, free of charge for a different vehicle or date/time (subject to availability).  You can also modify vehicle details up to 2 hours before your test.

If you have taken up a discount, the booking cannot be re-booked outside of the discounted period.

If you cancel after 12 noon the working day before the test or do not turn up on time for the test then you may be charged the full fee.

You need to turn up at least 10 minutes before your test time.  If you don’t then the vehicle will not be tested and you will need to make a new booking and payment for a full test.


All payments will be taken through a secure payment system at time of booking and a receipt will be issued by email.

Subject to the above conditions, bookings can only be cancelled and refunded on bookings made by debit card or credit card.

Any refund will be paid back on to the original card it was paid on within 5 working days of cancelling the booking.  A receipt will be issued by email to confirm the refund.

MOT Test

The MOT Tester will perform a pre-inspection check of your vehicle and will inform you of any reason why they will be unable to perform the test.  In these circumstances you will be required to make a new booking and payment for a full test  (the payment for the new booking is in addition to the payment made prior to the pre-inspection check).

There are no facilities to book and take payments for MOTs at the garage.  You will need to complete this on-line or by ringing Customer services on 01723 232323.

If you vehicle fails the MOT, you have 10 working days after the date of the test to complete the partial re-test.  If not then your vehicle will be classed as failing and you will need to make a new booking and payment for a full MOT test.

Taxi and Private Hire

You will present your vehicle and undertake the pre-inspection checklist prior to presenting the vehicle.   The pre-inspection checklist can be found in the Vehicle Inspection handbook and on the back of your booking confirmation or on the website at

You will present your vehicle as if it were to be used for service (e.g. including all door signs and other signage etc.).

If your vehicle fails on an MOT item that does not come under the items covered by a free re-check, then the vehicle licence may be suspended and licence plates removed and stored at the Garage. From this point your vehicle may no longer be used as a private hire/hackney carriage vehicle until a the vehicle successfully passes a re-test, at which point the licence plates will be returned and suspension lifted.
