Track betting
A licence is required by anyone carrying on bookmaking on any
betting track. This extends to any premises on which races, of any
description, athletic sports or other sporting events take
place.
Bookmaking can only be carried out at a track, which is not an
approved horse racecourse, when the occupier of that track is the
holder of a licence issued under Schedule 3 to the Betting Gaming
and Lotteries Act, 1963 (Referred to as a Track Betting
Licence).
This licence is required where bookmaking has taken place at a
track or stadium on more than seven previous days in any year. The
definition of 'track' extends to any premises on which races, of
any description, athletic sports or other sporting events take
place.
