Welcome to The Sands

The Sands apartments.A multi million pound stunning development of 55 acres set within spectacular scenery at North Bay, Scarborough.

On 19 February 2007 the demolition of The Corner café began in earnest and signalled the official start of The Sands development.

The first phase which included the construction of 100 apartments, replacement chalets and the construction of a new Beach Management Centre including a first aid station, lifeguard lookout post, toilets and showers is now complete.

The Sands apartments. The Beach Management Centre was completed on 28 February 2008 and was officially opened on 12 March by the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough Cllr Janet Jefferson. The new apartments were handed over in mid November with residents moving in soon after.

At the time of demolition the Leader of the Council, Cllr. Tom Fox said:

"I am absolutely delighted that this prestigious development is now well and truly underway. It signals the start of an exciting future for Scarborough’s North Bay, one that will bring major lifestyle benefits to residents and visitors and have a massive impact on the area’s tourism economy. Although a privately funded project, it does sit extremely well alongside the many other regeneration initiatives taking place within the Borough and will undoubtedly help to put Scarborough well and truly on the map."

The second phase of the impressive Sands development saw the restoration of the Open Air Theatre, which is now fully operational. While experienced property developer Roland Duce will take forward the development of a waterpark as a priority part of the third phase of the area's redevelopment.
