Housing allocations - rehousing decision appeal
An applicant who has been refused a place on the housing
register, who is unhappy with their allocation of housing points or
who has been suspended from the waiting list can ask the local
authority to review their decision. The authority should publish
details of their appeals procedure.
The Council transferred all its housing stock to Yorkshire Coast
Homes in 2003 and as such have no houses of our own. We are however
still required to maintain a Housing Register (or Waiting List) in
the Borough. It is through nominations from that Register that
Housing Association tenancies are allocated across the Borough.
Yorkshire Coast Homes currently manage that Housing Register
on our behalf and allocate housing association properties, from the
list in accordance with a points scheme.
A copy of the allocations scheme and policy is available from
Yorkshire Coast Homes or can be downloaded from this web page. This
policy includes the appeals and complaints procedure.
In the first instance all complaints or appeals about the way
a waiting list application is handled should be directed to
Yorkshire Coast Homes.
