The Cabinet
Scarborough Borough Council has a Cabinet structure of nine
Councillors, consisting of eight Portfolio Holders and the
Leader of the Council.
The Cabinet, either collectively or individually, may make
decisions within the policy and budget framework set by the full
Council. All decisions are made on the basis of reports containing
advice from the Council's officers.
With the exception of reports containing confidential
information, reports to individual Cabinet Members are published at
least three clear days before the decisions are to be made, and in
the case of Cabinet collectively, at least five clear days.
The Cabinet meet every month , (except August) in the Town
Hall.
All Cabinet meetings are open to the public. Individual Cabinet
Member decisions are made in private. The Cabinet's decisions are
recorded in the Cabinet minutes. Individual decisions of
members of Cabinet are recorded in Decision Notices. The

New key decisions
The Cabinet's proposed Key Decisions are required to be
published in advance. This is usually on its Forward
Plan. On occasions, such a decision will not have appeared on
the Forward Plan, and instead is notified here as a new Key
Decision.
