Acupuncturist licence
The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982
requires that all persons that carry out acupuncture be registered
with the local authority. Officers will visit the premises to
ensure they comply with the requirements of both the Act and any
local Bylaws.
Skin Piercing (Acupuncture, tattooing, ear piercing and
electrolysis)
Anybody carrying on the practice of acupuncture or the
business of tattooing, ear piercing or electrolysis in Scarborough
Borough must register both the persons and premises involved.
How do I register my business?
Limited Companies and Partnerships
In the case of a Limited Company, the full name of the company
and the address of its registered office must be entered on the
registration form. In the case of a partnership, the full names and
addresses of all the partners must be entered on the registration
form.
Changes in ownership?
Where a business changes hands, any new proprietor must
register the premises in his or her name.
Is there a charge for registration?
The charge for premises registration is £310.00. The charge
for personal registration is £55.
What do I do once I have registered?
An Inspector from the Food and Occupational Safety Team will
visit and assess the suitability of the premises before
registration is approved. You must then display a copy of the
registration certificate on the premises.
How do I apply to register?
The application, accompanied by the fee for registration,
should be made to the Food and Occupational Safety Team.
