FAQ
Why should I clean up after my dog?
Under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 (to see a copy of
the Act please go to the
OPSI
Website) it is an offence to allow a dog to foul in any area
open to the public, without the person who is in charge of the dog
clearing up the mess immediately.
The Council will either issue a fixed penalty notice
(currently £50) or prosecute offenders through the Courts (maximum
fine £1000).
