Publication of equal opportunities policy and provision of
advice/information on equal opportunities to employers and
employees in the area.
Equal opportunities
Scarborough Borough Council is committed to working towards
equal opportunities.
The Council’s aim is to ensure that everyone is treated fairly
and given an equal opportunity, both in gaining employment and
employment practices, regardless of their sex, race, age,
disability, sexuality, marital status, religion or socioeconomic
factor.
The Council employs up to 1050 employees, depending on
the time of year.
Equal opportunities monitoring
In order to assist the Council in its legal duty of monitoring
information on equal opportunities, applicants for jobs are
requested to complete and return an Equal Opportunities Monitoring
Form together with their Job Application Form. The short listing
and interview panel do not have access to the information on the
form.
Guidance for people concerned about completing monitoring
information can be found in:
Equalities scheme
It is also the Council’s duty to ensure that all Services are
accessible to the whole community and the Council is currently
undertaking an Impact Assessment Programme in order to achieve
those aims.
