Fishing

Varied commercial fishing operations are conducted at both ports with the provision of a fish auction market.

Commercial Fishing
The current fleets at Whitby and Scarborough Harbours are made up of keel boats, cobles, other fishing craft and salmon cobles.  Most landings are made via the fish auction markets provided.

Visiting fishing vessels are welcome to use our harbour and facilities and charges are as laid down in the schedule of dues and charges for either port.  Most commercial fishing vessels have an agent who handles their business affairs.

It is planned that a shellfish holding facility and bait store will be provided at Whitby Harbour in the short term future.
