Eclectic mix of musicians for Scarborough Seafest
An eclectic mix of
musicians will provide the audio stimulation during this year’s
Scarborough Seafest on the town’s West Pier.
They include Ishka, The Demimondaines and
Alexander Christopher who will open the three-day festival on
Friday 20 July as well as Raven, who will be making a welcome
return to Seafest. They will be performing the headline set on the
Saturday night before the Grand Firework Display.
The line-up of more than 20 acts has been
brought together by the team behind Scarborough’s hugely successful
Acoustic Gathering, which this year will feature The Lightning
Seeds as well as 3 Daft Monkeys and more. Find all the relevant
info at acousticgathering.co.uk and on Facebook.
James Taylor, from Acoustic Gathering,
said: “We’d like to thank all of the musicians who will be giving
up their time to make this year's Seafest happen. We have brought
together musicians from a variety of genres including folk, folk
rock and world music – something to suit all tastes. I believe the
groups and artistes we have lined up will complement the other
elements of Seafest perfectly, especially as we'll be in with such
a fantastic real ale bar!”
“It’s great to be involved and I hope that
together with our partners, we can add new energy to the
festival.”
Scarborough Seafest is supported by Welcome
to Yorkshire and Scarborough Borough Council, and alongside the
music, there will be a Great Yorkshire Brewery Real Ale Tent with
around 40 beers and six ciders; a Seafest food theatre featuring
cookery demonstrations by top chefs including Tom Rennolds and
Catherine Hill; a Scarborough Seafest food trail taking in local
cafes and restaurants; an exhibition marquee with around 40 art,
craft and food stalls; a grand Saturday night fireworks display; a
Seafest yacht race and a special Blessing of the Boats Sunday
service.
Welcome to Yorkshire Area Director, Janet Deacon, said: “We’re
delighted to have the Acoustic Gathering team and their expertise
on board. They have pulled together a fantastic line-up of
musicians who fit perfectly with the ethos of Seafest.
“And with more than 40 real ales and ciders
being brought by The Great Yorkshire Brewery at Cropton and some
incredible chefs again involved, I think we’re set for an amazing
weekend which will not only appeal to veterans of Seafest, but to
newcomers as well.”
