National Market Day in Scarborough
An outdoor street market
will be held in Scarborough on Thursday 28 June as part of National
Market Day.
The aim is to give potential new traders a
taste of what it is like, as well as support a national cause which
encourages residents to visit their local markets.
Scarborough Indoor Market Hall and Vaults
Manager, Terry Cullen, said: “The street market will be held in St
Helen’s Square with the focus on attracting new starters and
highlighting the opportunities that are available for market
trading.
“We would like to give new starters a
chance to promote innovative product lines and the only exclusions
for this particular market are the sale of food, second hand items
or bric-a -brac.
“We’d like to provide the opportunity for
local people to trade on a market and potentially start a new
business. We’ll be providing a complete stall for the day and, to
encourage new traders, the charge will be kept to a minimum.”
If you would like to discuss taking a stall
in St Helen’s Square on 28 June contact Terry Cullen in Scarborough

The national event – recommended by Mary
Portas in her December 2011 report to Government – is being
coordinated by the National Association of British Market
Authorities with support from the Markets Alliance and the National
Markets Traders Federation.
