Peasholm Park’s Big Jubilee lunch
29
May
Peasholm Park Friends are inviting everyone to join them in
celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this weekend for a magical
picnic in Peasholm Park, Scarborough.
The celebrations kick off at 12 noon on Sunday 3 June in the
park, where there will be a special fairy and elf fancy dress
themed competition for the children plus many more activities
including a treasure hunt, a cake stall as well as arts and crafts
for sale.
As a special accompaniment the Peasholm Park Friends have
invited the fabulous Moselle Valley Bass Band from Luxembourg to
play in the park for the Jubilee event. The Moselle Valley Brass
Band first played in Scarborough in 1968 at the Benelux Festival
and is marking the 45th anniversary of this visit with a return
trip to Scarborough where they will be performing at various
locations in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey over the next week.
Linda Harper, Chair of the Peasholm Park Friends group said:
“The Jubilee party is all about bringing families and local
communities together to celebrate a very special event in our
unique park and is just one of many special events to be held in
Peasholm Park this year, as it celebrates its Centenary year.
“We are delighted that the Moselle Valley Brass Band are able
play at the party and thank them very much; we are looking forward
to hearing them. The Friends would also like to thank the Thai
Manor Restaurant which is very kindly donating authentic food for
the event.”
Following the Jubilee party the next planned event at Peasholm
Park is an evening concert with the Shadows music tribute band and
Shazam, ‘Evening Shadows in the Park’ which takes place on Saturday
23 June. The much anticipated and exciting Centenary party has been
organised for the following day on Sunday 24 June.
