Stallholders wanted for Scarborough Seafest
Organisers of a
maritime festival in Scarborough awash with folk talent and top
cookery demonstrations are looking for stallholders to add to the
festival flavour.
Seafest, which is supported by Welcome to
Yorkshire and Scarborough Borough Council, takes place between 20
and 22 July and features music and entertainment on the West Pier
and in pubs across the town, alongside a cookery marquee featuring
well-know regional chefs, a blessing of the boats service,
fireworks, and other family activities.
Thousands of people are expected over the
course of the weekend, making it one of Scarborough’s favourite
events.
Cllr Janet Jefferson, chairman of the
Seafest steering group, said: “The music and seafood cookery
elements of the festival combine perfectly, making this event one
of the most loved in Scarborough and indeed along the east
coast.
“We get a lot of interest from stallholders
who are interested in having a ‘pitch’ at the festival – now is the
time to come forward and apply. If you are interested and would
like more details, please contact Jane Groom at the Town Hall -
email jane.groom@scarborough.gov.uk.”
Welcome to Yorkshire Area Director, Janet
Deacon, added: “Last year we were lucky to have some great
exhibitors and stallholders which really benefited the overall
atmosphere of the festival.
“As our plans for the festival begin to
take shape, we’re once again looking forward to seeing some
terrific folk music and cookery demonstrations, along with some
great local produce.”
The festival, due to start on the Friday
with an evening concert from special guest, former BBC Folk Singer
of the Year Martin Carthy, will also see performances from Wendy
Arrowsmith, Beggars Bridge, Blue Sun, Tom and Barbara Brown, Devils
Water, Direction Corsaires, Monkeys Fist, Martin Curtis, Richard
Grainger, 5 Men Not Called Matt, Malcolm Ward, Alan Whitbread,
Stormcrow, John Ward, Glenn Coggin, Fools Gold, Short Drag Roger,
Steve Dawes and Helen Pitt.
