Mayor's special sports dinner

Tickets for the Mayor’s special sporting themed dinner at
Scarborough Rugby Club, on Saturday 10 March are still
available.
Dennis Taylor, the former legendary snooker player who is well
known for his sense of humour and oversized spectacles together
with Martin Gold, a renowned stand-up comedian have been secured as
guest speakers at the event and will be providing excellent
entertainment and laughter for guests.
Dennis Taylor is looking forward to visiting Scarborough and
making the guests chuckle, he said:
“I am really looking forward to coming to Scarborough and
meeting up with one of my favourite comedians, Martin Gold, on what
I am sure will be a great night.”
The Mayor of the borough of Scarborough, Cllr John Blackburn,
has always been a huge supporter of sports as it is one thing that
brings the local community together and he is working with Sam
Greetham, International Swimming Coach and 2012 Olympics Organiser,
and local business trader, Steve Hamblett of S H Leisure on
arrangements for this one-off event.
The Mayor encourages people to grasp the opportunity to attend
this special dinner:
“It would be great to see as many sporting people of our borough
come together for this one-off special event, we hope to raise as
much money as possible for the Mayoress’ Community Fund from sale
of the tickets which goes to help support local organisations.”
As well as the outstanding entertainment on offer the ticket
price of £35 also includes a four course dinner and everyone is
welcome to attend the event, although sport themed the invitation
is open to all - including groups, singles, couples and of course
the ladies.
An auction will be held after the dinner with two fabulous
prizes on offer. Brian Davidson of Crown Paints, a keen supporter
of civic events has very kindly and generously donated a fantastic
prize for the evening’s auction of two hospitality tickets at a
Manchester United game next season, including a champagne lunch and
free drinks during the interval and afterwards. Also to be
auctioned off will be a snooker cue signed by guest speaker,
legendary snooker player, Dennis Taylor.
