Taxi and private hire
The aim of licensing
drivers and both hackney carriage and private hire vehicles is to
protect the public and to ensure that the public has reasonable
access to hackney carriage and private hire services because of the
part they play in local transport provision. It is important that
the Authority’s licensing powers are used to ensure that hackney
carriages and private hire vehicles that are licensed in the
borough are safe, comfortable and properly insured.
Our objectives are
as follows:
- To ensure the
safety of the public affected by the operation of hackney carriage
and private hire services.
- To ensure the
safety and comfort of users of hackney carriage and private hire
services.
- To encourage the
provision of high quality and accessible hackney carriage and
private hire services.
