Reighton and Speeton’s best gardens
20 September

Reighton and Speeton in Bloom will be rewarding gardeners in
their Best Kept Garden Competition awards evening on Wednesday 21
September.
The awards ceremony will be held in the village hall and the
residents of the 20 gardens entered will find out their
results.
Judging this year was undertaken by Sheila Johnson of
Scarborough Borough Council’s Community Environment team which
supports the various bloom groups and other voluntary groups in the
borough.
Paul Riley, Secretary for the Reighton and Speeton in Bloom
group, said:
“The photographs taken during the judging will form a slideshow
for all to enjoy during the evening.
“We encouraged as many people to enter as possible, whether they
have large gardens with lawns and specimen trees or just a patio
garden with plants in troughs. Some of the gardens are well-cared
for and maintained whereas some abit wilder and more overgrown,
offering a haven for wildlife. We think every garden has something
to offer.”
“It should be good night with plenty of people there as the same
event last year was a great success.”
The evening will start at 7pm and refreshments will be
served.
