NHS Trust begins member search
The NHS Trust which will oversee hospital services in the
Scarborough borough and East Yorkshire is looking to recruit new
members.
All NHS Trusts must now become Foundation
Trusts. Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust
has recognised that it would not be able to achieve this within the
given timeframe, and is working with York Teaching Hospital NHS
Foundation Trust towards becoming a single organisation.
York Teaching Hospital has begun to recruit
members in Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Ryedale, Bridlington
and East Yorkshire, and would like to invite members of the public
to join. This is for two reasons:
- York is responsible for the delivery of community services in
these areas and would like to give people the opportunity to have a
say about how these services are delivered
- should it be agreed the Scarborough Trust will become part of
York Teaching Hospital through York formally acquiring Scarborough,
members will be needed in these areas to have a say about how acute
hospital services are developed and delivered
Members receive information from the Trust and
are entitled to attend the Council of Governors public meetings.
Once there is approval to become one Foundation Trust, the York
Teaching Hospital will invite members to elect a Governor to
represent them in the new constituencies.
