Rich musical line-up for Seafest
North Yorkshire folk
singer and songwriter, Richard Grainger, takes to the stage on
Saturday night at Scarborough Seafest, with his new electric band,
The Steel River Band.
The five piece folk/rock outfit recently
made their debut at Liverpool Shanty Festival and were hailed as
“mightily impressive” by festival director Bernie
Davis.
The line up of bass, fiddle and lead
guitar, together with Chris Parkinson on accordion and Richard
Grainger on vocals and acoustic/electric guitars, is tipped to
find more success at this and other folk and maritime festivals in
the UK and abroad this year.
Their new album featuring a variety of
Richard’s original songs is due for release in November.
Traditional music of the sea is
represented by Tom and Barbara Brown from Devon and Dick Miles from
Ireland. Both acts will perform in their own concerts at the
Sea Cadets’ Hall in Scarborough as well as being seen at other
venues throughout the weekend.
Monkeys Fist and The Endeavour Shantymen,
Ireland’s Ashore For A Loaf and The Men Of Staithes
represent the inextricable connection of this festival to the
sea and its traditions.
Plus, don’t miss festival newcomers,
Yorkshire harpist Fiona Katie Roberts and Australian folk
rocker Rebecca Moore. Fiona Katie recently completed a piece
of music celebrating her native Yorkshire. Rebecca Moore is on her
debut tour of UK Festivals.
It’s a weekend of variety with something to
whet the appetite of everyone. Tickets are on sale now at the
festival website, http://www.seafest.org.uk/ and
will also be available on the day.
Compared to other festivals of this nature
the ticket prices are extremely low and are designed to be
affordable by all.
