Scarborough Borough Council’s tourism website, www.discoveryorkshirecoast.com has
reached the shortlist for the national TravelMole Web Awards.
The newly revamped website has recently been awarded the
prestigious British Destinations National Holiday website award for
2011 and has now been shortlisted in the Tourist Board category in
this year’s TravelMole Web Awards. The winners will be announced at

The website has been redeveloped in-house by Scarborough Borough
Council’s Tourism and ICT web team in conjunction with private
sector members and Advisory Board. The site’s facelift includes
many improvements such as the use of fantastic high quality images,
quick search referencing, better navigation, seasonal special
offers, key events and banner advertising opportunities.
The website is up against the following which look to be tough
competition:
Janet Deacon, Welcome to Yorkshire Area Director said:
"We are delighted that the site has reached the shortlist stage
for this esteemed award and are extremely proud to have supported
the transformation of the website into such a popular source of
information which will hopefully encourage more visitors to the
area and provide them with the valuable tourism information that
they need to have a fully enjoyable stay. The site has been
developed in partnership with both the public and private sector to
ensure that it reflects the needs of both the industry and
potential visitors to the area.”
