Remedial work at rock fall site

A statue of Captain James Cook stands proudly in WhitbyWork to make safe a minor cliff slippage in Whitby will take place next week (17 January).

It follows a rock fall over the Christmas period on the west side of Whitby at Khyber Pass.

Although it will not be necessary to close Pier Road or Khyber Pass while loose material and debris from the slippage is removed, Scarborough Borough Council says there could be some delays for motorists, though they would be kept to a minimum.

It is the second similar rock fall in that area of Whitby over December, though rock falls are not uncommon along the Whitby coastline at this time of the year.
