Free Recycling Activities for your
school!
Just a reminder to schools
of the FREE activities Scarborough Borough Councils Recycling
Department are offering!
NEW! Waste Busters Game: Based on the famous
quiz show. Two teams will play against each other to answer
questions about waste and recycling beginning with the letters on
the board. The first to make a line of their colours hexagons
wins!

Paper – Making: Back by popular demand! This
can be a full class activity or as part of a demo. How is paper
recycled once you have put it in to your blue bin? Each student can
take part in making their very own piece of recycled paper!!
The Wheel of Waste: The wheel of waste is a
large wheel that spins & lands on a particular waste material,
a fun game show style activity that aims to teach students what
goes in what bin, what can be recycled and much more!
Recycling Relay: The challenge for two teams is
to race against each other in sorting a bag of waste material in to
the correct bin one student at a time and tagging each other for
the next turn!
Recycled Yoghurt
Pots & Juice Carton Bird Feeder: This is a very
creative way to re-use yoghurt pots and juice cartons . We can
decorate the yoghurt pots and grow cress in them and we make the
juice cartons in to a bird feeder as well decorating this for
the garden.
The Big Tidy Up: We can organise with the
schools help to do a big litter pick in a designated area, we
provide the litter picks, bibs and sacks all you have to do is help
pick up the litter!
For each activity we always introduce the blue
bin recycling scheme with a short DVD and talk.
We aim to think of new and exiting ways to
educate students in the reduce, re-use & recycle scheme, and as
soon as we have a new activity to add to the list we will contact
you to let you know!!! Anything you think of that we haven’t
mentioned and would like to get involved with please do not
hesitate to contact us.
