The following Development Briefs provide guidance as to the type
and form of development which may be accepted on specific sites
within the Borough in the context of existing planning policies
including the Scarborough Borough Local Plan and national planning
advice.

This Development Brief provides an overall vision and practical
guide for the planning of 4 hectares of land to the south of Dean
Road, Scarborough. Following public consultation, Scarborough

Sports and Leisure Village Development
Briefs
Development Briefs have been prepared for the former Park and
Ride car park plus additional land to the south of Ashburn Road in
Scarborough (Weaponness Valley), the former football stadium on
Seamer Road, Scarborough (Seamer Road Football Stadium) and
Scarborough Sports and Tennis Centre, Filey Road, Scarborough
(Filey Road Sports Centre). The purpose of the Development Briefs
is to provide a vision and practical guide to the future planning
of a new sports and leisure village on the Weaponness Valley site
through 'enabling developments' on the Seamer Road and Filey Road
sites that also help to regenerate and respect the character of
these areas.
Following public consultation, Scarborough Borough Council
adopted the Development Briefs on 7 November 2011 as planning
guidance. Further amendments to the Filey Road Sports Centre Brief
were approved by the Borough Council's Strategic Planning and
Regeneration Portfolio Holder as an Individual Cabinet Member
Decision on 8 December 2011, following the club house at the Filey
Road Sports Centre being designated a listed building on 16

Futurist and Town Hall Development Brief
This document covers an area in the heart of Scarborough
extending from the Futurist Theatre on the South Bay foreshore up
to the Town Hall in the town centre. Following public consultation,
the Borough Council adopted the Development Brief as planning
