Make a Difference Day - Filey
The Friends
of Filey Parks will be holding their annual litter pick day on
Saturday 25 October from 11am for the Community Services Volunteers
Make a Difference Day.
The event which has taken place for the
last three years is held in memory and respect of Ronnie Simmons, a
much liked resident of Filey who was passionate about keeping his
home town clean and tidy.
Make a Difference Day is a national
hands-on volunteering event that is the biggest of its kind, asking
people to go out and give time and not money for a project in their
community.
Linda Cooke, Chairman of the Friends of
Filey Parks said:
“This event was organised to remind the
people of Filey about the tireless work that Ronnie Simmons put in
to keeping Filey tidy. It is also a good opportunity to get
out and do something for your community.”
She also added:
”New volunteers are always welcome to
attend, even if you can only manage 10 minutes.”
Any volunteers interested in joining the litter pick can meet at
the front of the Railway Station at 11am. Equipment and
gloves will be provided; volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and
dress accordingly for the time of year. For more information
