Referrals to other housing organisations
The council may refer tenants to Registered Social Landlords
(housing associations) within the council area or to the housing
division of another LA where a move to another area is a
possibility. RSLs will normally operate a scheme with the council
whereby a proportion of their property is set aside for people on
the council's housing waiting list.
Referrals
On 15 December 2003, Scarborough Borough Council transferred all
of its social housing stock to Yorkshire Coast Homes, a registered
social landlord (housing association). Therefore, the Council
does not own any properties of its own to re-house waiting list
applicants, and has to refer your details to housing associations
that own properties in the local area.
In the Borough of Scarborough, the Council's housing waiting
list register is administered by Yorkshire Coast Homes.
Scarborough Borough Council has certain nomination rights to the
properties owned by Yorkshire Coast Homes, and to other housing
associations that operate within the Borough, including Sanctuary,
Home, Accent, Broadacres, Chevin and Hanover Housing
associations.
By registering your name on the housing waiting list at
Yorkshire Coast Homes, should you reach the top of the list, you
will be considered for any suitable vacancies in your areas of
choice that become available, with the majority of the housing
associations that own properties within the Borough of
Scarborough.
