School's blue recycling bins
All North Yorkshire County Council schools can take part in the
Borough's blue bin recycling scheme. To request a blue bin please
call Customer First on 01723 232323 or email recycling@scarborough.gov.uk with
your requirements.
Blue recycling bins are free to schools and are collected once
every two weeks on the same day as the domestic round in your
area.
In your blue bin please recycle:
- Paper, such as: leaflets, newspapers, magazines,
directories, envelopes (no windows)
- Card and cardboard; from cardboard boxes to
plain greetings cards (no glitter etc
- Plastic bottles
- Clean yoghurt pots
- Clean margarine or butter tubs
- large plastic ice cream tubs
- Plastic fruit punnets and food trays
- Food and drink cans; please rinse cans first
- Empty aerosols
- Cartons, such as juice cartons and milk cartons
Remember: Put recyclables straight
into the blue bin loose and follow the list above; if you put items
in your blue bin or sack which shouldn't be there it means we can't
recycle the entire content.
Please do not put the following in the blue bin:
- Glass
- Food waste
- Plastic bags
- Nappies
- Plastic film
- Polystyrene trays
- Aluminium trays
- Plastic toys or plastic garden furniture etc
Top tip! If you have a big cardboard box leave
this beside the bin on collection day, if you put it in the blue
bin it often prevents the other recyclables falling out when tipped
onto the lorry!
