In an attempt
to enhance a unique area, the Flixton and Folkton In Bloom Group
have been busy planting trees in preparation for next year’s
competition.
An area near Crook Lane underwent a makeover when the group
planted a Golden Alder tree to replace an old willow tree, which
had been removed. Four crab apple trees and several black alder
trees were also planted.
Mile Prince Planting Coordinator of the group said:
“We are planting more trees at Spring Head and Crook Lane in
Flixton to enhance this unique area and most importantly to attract
more wild life. We also planted four Crab Apple trees
and four Black Elders. The fruit and berries they produce
will help to achieve this.”
The group also hope to put up bird nesting boxes in the near
future, which have been built by children at Staxton School.
