The Residents and Friends of Trafalgar Square will be holding
their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 15th November, 7.30pm at
the Scarborough Bowls Centre. Chairman Colin Charles will outline
the fantastic year that the Friends group have had in 2007 and
there will be an opportunity to hear about exciting plans for 2008.
The group’s success over the last year includes the Fair in
the Square celebration in May, which was well attended despite the
poor weather and the Merit Award received from the Royal
Horticultural Society in the Neighbourhood Award Scheme. This is
the first time that Trafalgar Square has been entered into this
competition and the Friends of the Square were delighted that all
their hard work was recognised.
The RHS judges said in their report that:
"This once handsome square is gradually being regenerated and
praise should go to those involved."
Anyone interested in developments in the square is welcome to
attend the meeting to hear about future plans and developments
including the next square clean up.
Parks and Countryside Services Manager, Roger Burnett
said:
“I am delighted with the progress of the Friends of Trafalgar
Square and the pride they so obviously take in their area. The
Square has improved enormously since the formation of the group two
years ago and it is to the credit of the group that this has taken
place. Projects such as this are shining examples of how community
groups working in partnership with the Borough Council can make
lasting improvements to their environment. Please go along to the
meeting and add your ideas to keep making these lasting
improvements"
