Housing Enabling
Housing Enabling
In December 2003 the Council transferred its housing stock to a
newly formed Registered Social Landlord, Yorkshire Coast Homes.
Following stock transfer, the Council still has a wide range of
responsibilities in relation to Housing. These responsibilities are
generally referred to as the Strategic Enabling Role.
In our Enabling Role, we co-ordinate the work of our partners
to meet the housing needs of the Borough. This work includes the
development of a Housing Strategy, the promotion and development of
additional housing and improvements to the quality of all
accommodation across the Borough.
We also have a number of services that we have a retained
legal obligation to provide, including:
- Management of the Housing Register
- Homelessness
- Housing information, aid and advice
- Private Sector Housing
- Housing Renewal Assistance
The Council also plays a role in monitoring the activities of
Yorkshire Coast Homes to ensure that our promises and commitments
made to tenants before stock transfer are met.
