Proposals for land use

Any proposals on the development of, or change in use of land have to be approved by the local planning authority. When planning applications are submitted the council may ask for the views of other agencies, council departments and local people on the proposals.  The responses are considered alongside other factors before deciding if the development is appropriate for the site, and the wider area.

Each development is considered on its own merit in relation to local planning policies and government guidance.

Queries regarding development, change of use of land and planning matters should be made in writing to the Planning Office or by e-mailing planning.services@scarborough.gov.uk

Information on how to make a planning application can be found by visiting the planning home page.

Further information on planning matters is available from the Planning Portal.
