Services and communal repairs
When a
council property has been purchased in a leasehold agreement by the
tenant the local authority remains responsible for carrying out
repairs and maintenance in communal areas and structural and
exterior repairs. The leaseholder is expected to contribute a share
of the cost.

Yorkshire Coast Homes
Yorkshire Coast Homes is a registered social landlord (RSL),
which is a not-for-profit housing organisation which is regulated
by the Housing Corporation.
It was set up in 2003 to take over the ownership and management
of Scarborough Borough Council’s rented housing stock following a
positive ballot by the tenants.
Yorkshire Coast Homes purpose is to provide high quality, well
managed homes for rent to people who need them.
The company manages around 4,500 homes, ranging from
four-bedroom houses, to 1 or 2 bed flats, maisonettes, bungalows
and sheltered housing complexes for older people.
