Municipal Golf Courses
Golf courses, which are owned, and run by the local authority.
Members of the public are usually able to 'pay and play' on these
courses or to book tee times in advance. Municipal golf courses may
also have their own membership schemes and tee times reserved for
members.
Scarborough
Borough Council does not directly operate any Municipal Golf
Courses although it does assist the private clubs, namely South
Cliff, North Cliff, Whitby, Filey, Hunmanby Hall, Lebberston and
Snainton Golf Centre with any development work and funding
applications.
The Sports Development Unit also operates a Golf Development
Group that involves all the clubs, schools, the Golf Foundation and
the English Golf Union.
The group’s main focus is on the development of junior golf
within the Borough, which includes the Tri – Golf initiative to
local schools.
