Whitby Leisure Centre

Whitby Leisure CentreWhitby Leisure Centre is a purpose built wet and dry side facility located on the West Cliff approximately half a mile from Whitby town centre.

Parking

There is a large pay and display car park up to which £2.00 maximum (2hours)  is refundable at the main reception for all centre users. Pay & Display spring/summer only.

  • Summer Holiday Activities. Great summer programme of activities to keep all ages occupied during the summer holidays. Click on link at top of page to see our what we offer. We have day camps, sports camps and dance camps as well as competitions and activity days. Me Too Vouchers accepted but book early as some of our activities book up very very quickly. Runs from Monday 26th July to Wednesday 1st September inclusive.

 

  • CRICKET RETURNS. Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket. Development Academy. With current and ex Yorkshire CCC players alongside level 2,3 & 4 coaches running weekly for 90 minutes each week over 10 weeks. Talented players pushed towards District & County Teams. Unique drills used by pro cricketers to improve juniors quickly. Run at Whitby Leisure Centre on Sundays from November 7th to January 23d. 7 to 12 yr olds 2pm to 3.30pm and 12-16 yr olds 3.30pm to 5pm.   • ZUMBA. Not a craze but a phenomenon and it's coming to Whitby. Over 7.5 million participants worldwide in over 105 countries.Each class is an hour of calorie burning, body energising, awe inspiring movements. Launches 5th September. Look out for class times.

 

  • Aquanatal Classes. Now running on Tuesdays during term time. Meet at 11.30am in the reception area and the class starts 11.45am with a finish time of 12.15pm (30 minute session). Cost is as per charge for swimming session (see fees and charges). Bring water in plastic bottle to ensure you stay hydrated during exercise. Any concerns speak to the instructor prior to the class.

 

  • MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE - Time 4.15pm to 5.15pm. For ages 6 to 11 years. A fun class suitable for children of all abilities. Throughout the classes you will learn different styles of dance and performance technique while developing co-ordination, strength and flexibility through moves and dances inspired by the musical and film world.

        

  • Sunday Club -  Every Sunday. A great opportunity to take part in physical activity in a relaxed informal environment and mix with friends. For those with Special Needs. Swimming, Dry Sports, Fitness Suite & Social Club.

 

  • Blood donor sessions - Next BLOOD DONOR SESSIONS at Whitby Leisure Centre is on Thursday 19th August 2010. The times are 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm. To make an appointment ring 0845 7 711 711 or 0300 123 23 23. You could save someone's life...today.
  • Whitby Gymnastics Club. Saturday mornings. For details about the club and to enrol on the waiting list please ring Michaela Edens on 01751 432998. 
  • Swimming for youngsters. We have introduced 2 new swimming classes for younger children. Guppy classes are aimed at 4 to 5 year olds whilst parent and toddler sessions are for 3 month to under 4's. 
     
  • Adult Volleyball. There is also an adult drop in volleyball session every Wednesday at 6.30pm. This is a social and fun session with an element of coaching as well. If you've played volleyball before that's great but if you haven't don't let that put you off. Come down and give it a try.

 

  • SPINNING. The most recognised brand in indoor cycling. We are now an official spinning Centre. The only Official Spinning Centre in the Borough.

What does the Leisure Centre have?

How do I book activities?

Classes, sports, parties, sun beds, events and longer term hire. To book you don't need to be a member, all you need to do is contact our friendly staff and they will do the rest.

 

How do I book an Induction for the Fitness Suite?

Call our reception on 01947 604640 and one of our friendly team will assist you in your booking. Inductions and reviews are available daily from 9am to 8pm.

 

How much is an Induction?

£16.00 for Adults
£6.00 for Juniors

 

What is the policy on under 8's  swimming?

The under 8's policy requires one adult (aged 16 yrs and above) to two children at all times within the session. Children must never be left alone in the pool or be allowed to go into a different pool without the parent accompanying them.

Is there on site car parking?

We have a large car park just outside the centre and we have a parking refund system in operation. You can park for 1 hour at £1.50 or 2 hours for £2, which is refundable at the main reception for all centre users (Pay & Display spring/summer only).. The car park is well lit, safe and provides easy access to the centre. During autumn and winter the car park is free.

 

Are there any disabled parking spaces?

Yes 2 places, which are situated outside the main entrance of the building, leading to ramped access.

 

What is the access to the building like?

Full disabled access to the building is available with everything on one level and a dedicated wet changing facility with state of the art tracked hoist system for easy pool access.

 

Where is the Recycling Facility?

Currently we can recycle glass, cans, paper, magazines, books and clothes in a dedicated area. Recycling points are available in the car parking area.
