The Naval Warfare at Peasholm Park, Scarborough.2 April 2012

The Peasholm Park Friends group are inviting everyone to a special Easter Eggstravaganza, the first of many events planned in 2012 to mark the park’s 100th birthday. The event ‘cracks off’ at 12 noon on Easter Sunday, 8 April.

The Easter Eggstravaganza will host plenty of fun activities to keep the whole family entertained including:

  • Easter basket making
  • Hunt the chick (treats included!)
  • Egg decorating – bring an egg or two to decorate
  • Egg rolling contests
  • An Easter bonnet competition – bring your fancy hat to win a prize

There will be a small charge to take part in the above activities and the Friends will also be selling Easter cakes and handmade gifts with all proceeds going towards promoting more Friends events and activities at the park during this anniversary year.

Linda Harper, from the Peasholm Park Friends said:

“This is a wonderful event to start off the Peasholm Park Centenary celebrations and it is the second year we have organised an Easter event. Last year proved very popular and it is always encouraging to see so many families taking part in activities and enjoying the scenery and variety that the park offers.”

Other special events planned for the spring and summer Peasholm Centenary celebrations include a Diamond Jubilee Big Picnic, Norwegian Marching Bands, Evening Shadows in the Park, The Three Tenors and Swing in the Park. In addition, the Peasholm Park Friends will be holding a unique, open to everyone celebration party to commemorate the park’s centenary on 24 June.
