Jubilee tree planting at Falsgrave Park
28 March
Scarborough has just made another contribution towards the
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations this year with the planting of
an English Oak tree in Falsgrave Park.
Bought by the Friends of Falsgrave Park, the idea came from Ruth
Evinson, a long-standing member of the group and the tree was
planted with the help of Scarborough Borough Council’s Parks and
Countryside team.
Friends of Falsgrave Park Chair, Mrs Dorothy Russell, said:
“The tree will add to the attractions of the park, which is
entering another hopefully successful year with a number of events
being planned to entertain and inform park users, if anyone would
like to organise an event in the park, I would love to hear from
them.
“I should like again to thank the staff from the council's Parks
team, who put so much work into keeping Falsgrave Park on top form,
as they do all around the borough.”
Paul Thompson, Operations Manager of Scarborough Borough
Council’s Environmental Services added:
“We are always delighted to work with and support the Friends of
Falsgrave Park. This Green Flag awarded park is a highly valued
green space which is enjoyed all year round by residents and
visitors alike and the new Oak tree adds to the array of
attractions already on offer in the park.”
