Seamer road now open
8 February
Seamer Road is now open following a gas
leak yesterday.
The road was closed between Queen Margarets Road and Valley Road
from mid-morning on Tuesday (7 February) and through the night as
engineers from Northern Gas Networks worked to repair the damaged
18" gas main.
The area's gas pipeline owner evacuated 24 properties close to
the location of the damaged pipe as a safety precaution today (7
February) and arranged overnight accommodation for those
affected.
Two-way temporary traffic lights will remain in place on Seamer
Road as part of the on-going planned gas works in the area.
Anyone who smells gas is urged to call the gas emergency number
on 0800 111 999 to report it, the call is free and could be
potentially life saving.
