Refuse collection update following bad weather
6 February
Scarborough Borough Council
staff have been working throughout the day to maintain bin
collections across the borough and assisting North Yorkshire
County Council staff in gritting streets and roads.
The majority of refuse and
waste collections have been carried out as scheduled except
properties on Church Street and Chapel Street in Filey and
approximately six properties in the Weaponess Valley area of
Scarborough due to icy conditions; these will be collected
tomorrow.
Collections in Glaisdale,
Castleton, Commondale and Fryup in the northern part of the borough
have also been affected due to icy road conditions and these will
be re-scheduled as soon as the roads are accessible.
Borough council street
cleansing and grounds maintenance staff have been working with
North Yorkshire County Council operatives to help grit Scarborough
town centre side streets, Ramshill shopping area, Falsgrave Road
shopping area as well as Victoria Road and Castle Road. Other
regions within Scarborough such as highly used pedestrian areas in
the Barrowcliff area, including Scalby Road leading to the hospital
have also been treated.
A team is supplying
salt/grit to the Filey area and will be providing gritting support
in Filey and Hunmanby. In Whitby gritting has taken place in
areas such as car parks and high footfall zones.
