Futurist task group looks forward to public consultation
The Futurist Task Group held
its last session with consultants last week as part of its ongoing
work to identify a strategy for the development of the Futurist
theatre site in Scarborough.
This marks the end of the
formal fact-finding sessions with consultants and interested
parties and the start of the public consultation, which will begin
tomorrow,Tuesday 13 July.
Cllr David Jeffels, Chairman
of the Futurist Task Group said: “During the session we heard some
very informative presentations from planning consultants and an
architect.
"Discussions were focused on
the need for a planning brief and how this will help shape
development of the wider site.
"The task group also heard
from Simon Gedye, who presented a vision and some ideas on how the
site could be developed.
“The eight weeks public
consultation period starts next week and we hope as many people as
possible will take the opportunity to complete the consultation
questionnaire.
"We also look forward to
meeting local residents at the informal public drop in day on
Monday 19 July, when anyone can come along, talk to members of the
task group about the future of the Futurist and complete the
questionnaire.”
Complete the questionnaire online or in person
at one of the Customer First centres, tourist information centres,
leisure centres or Scarborough Library.
The informal public drop in day on Monday 19 July starts at
9.30am and ends at 7pm
