Young Bloomers Help Out
Saturday 25
October has been designated National "Make A Difference Day."
This is the annual opportunity for people to get out into their
communities and give something back. It doesn't matter what
age you are, if you can spare an hour to help with a local project
you will be welcomed with open arms.
In a show of cross community co-operation a
group of Young Bloomers from Hunmanby will travel a short distance
down the road to Flixton where they will be lending a hand in
cleaning out the stream at the bottom of North Street.
Led by Lisa Woolridge and assisted by
volunteers from both Hunmanby and Flixton and Folkton In Bloom
groups, the young bloomers will be donning wellies and wading in to
give the brook its annual autumn clean up. Roger Burnett,
Parks and Countryside Manager, is delighted that the two groups
have got together on Make A Difference Day.
"It is wonderful to see the Bloom Groups
working together like this ", he said.
"It is also nice to see the youngsters from
Hunmanby spreading their wings and offering to help others."
Stream cleaning in Flixton will be taking
place on Saturday 25 October from 10am and anyone wishing to help
will be most welcome. Volunteers are advised to wear wellies
and warm, old clothes. Further details about the Bloom Groups
or National Make A Difference Day are available from Sheila at
Parks and Countryside 01723 374079.
